While most nations around the world have exited the COVID-19 forced lockdowns with a calculated hope of economic rebound, growth, and recovery, the Lebanese society is moving towards a grimmer perspective tarnished with despair, deadlock, and uncertainty. The reason is that Lebanon is facing its worst and hardest crisis ever since the end of the Lebanese Civil War that went on for 15 years as a result of a confluence of calamities. Between street protests, COVID-19 pandemic, dangerous depletion of resources, Beirut port explosion on August 4th, 2020, protracted absence of a functional cabinet and overlapping economic, financial and social crises, Lebanon grapples to survive on the edge of collapse. Therefore, Lebanese people's hearts are sorrowful and their spirits low, left with little hope in a bright tomorrow.
We, at MyBeirut, were brought together by the tragedy that struck our city. We were deeply shaken and had the common goal of wanting to help in whatever way we could; so we joined our efforts and resources, in desperate attempts to alleviate some of the damages caused by the blast, have taken personal initiatives and made collective efforts to compensate on people because we wanted to bring back the soul that was crushed beneath the emotional rubble. We knew that in order to rebuild the city of Beirut, we needed to restore its pillar, its citizens.
This is how MyBeirut was born; an apolitical, non-confessional initiative that strives to help rehabilitate the people of Beirut.
Empowering members of Beirut communities, by removing barriers that are holding them back.

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile. The only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve

One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn't as individuals. When we pool our strength and share the work and responsibility, we can welcome many people, even those in deep distress, and perhaps help them find self-confidence and inner healing.
